Symbolic Briefs DQ and ADS at USAAC

In collaboration with Dr. Richard Wang Deputy Chief Data Officer and Chief Data Quality Officer US Army CIO/G-6, Frank Ponzio Jr., President and CEO of Symbolic Systems, Inc., and John Briel, Senior Systems Analyst of Symbolic Systems, Inc., participated in the United States Army Accessions Command (USAAC) Army Total Data Quality Management (ATDQM) Seminar on September 23.

The USAAC is a subordinate command of the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) established in 2002. USAAC was designed to meet the human resource needs of the Army and to transform volunteers into Soldiers and leaders for the Army.

Symbolic’s role included presenting to the USAAC the fundamentals of data quality and the Army data quality program. The agenda included a Data Quality Overview presented by Dr. Richard Wang; Army Total Data Quality Management: The Case of Unit Identification Code (UIC), by John Briel; and Authoritative Data Sources presented by Frank Ponzio. The briefings were followed by a discussion encompassing USAAC’s data quality efforts.

The data quality lectures were well received, with the USAAC members actively participating in determining ways in which the principles presented could be integrated into their data quality efforts.

Mr. Frank Ponzio has been heavily involved in the Army’s efforts to produce initialization data for the digitized weapons systems now being deployed. He has three data quality patents pending and reviews data quality articles for MIT’s Total Data Quality Management Program.

Symbolic Systems, Inc. offers a number of data quality services to both the government and industry. In addition to consulting, the company provides data quality analysis and metrics reporting using its web-based DATAMRI® service suite.
